In order for MetaLAN to discover and administer the computers on a network the following Windows Firewall settings must be in place on the client computers.  Please see the following article for details : Windows Firewall Settings for Metalan


 

To diagnose possible problems with the target computers, even though the required firewall policy are applied, please do the following:

  1. Download HSDiag from the hammer software website : http://www.hammer-software.com/download/hsdiag.zip
  2. Unzip and run the HSDiag.exe file
  3. Click “Diagnose” in the left of the window
  4. Enter then name of the of the computers that MetaLAN will not discover
  5. Click the “Run Diagnostic” button
  6. Examine the log for errors


Note: It is normal for the “Registry Test” to fail on Windows Vista and later version of Windows.  This does not cause any problems with MetaLAN.
