In MetaLAN 2.5 and later the software and software license counts may not update immediately.  


Causes
  1. The network scan settings determine how often a computer will be scanned for software.  Even if a computer is scanned for other attributes software details will not be scanned unless this time has elapsed.  The recommended setting is 1 day or greater.  This behavior is by design to optimize the balance of fresh scan data and network load.
     
  2. The License Manager Module in MetaLAN Administrator automatically update license counts once a day.  This behaviour is by design.


 Solution

  • Stand Alone Mode : To enable instant update of software and license scan details in MetaLAN Administrator do the following:
    MetaLAN Administrator : Set the "Settings/Scan/Update Intervals/Update Installed Software Period" to the desired period.  
    Server Mode :  To enable instant update of software and license details in MetaLAN Administrator do the following:
    MetaLAN Server : Set the "Scan Settings/Check Installed Software Every:" to the desired period.  
     
    The next time a network scan is initiated the new settings will be in effect.
     
    MetaLAN Administrator License Manager Module : To manually update software license counts (more often than the default 24 hour period) : Click "Refresh License Counts" in the License Manager module action menu.
